Is there an application process for membership in CATSAR?
Not at present. CATSAR has always been a very informal group of volunteers where becoming a member has mostly been a matter of hearing about us and coming to meetings. In January 2007 we became an officially recognized non-profit corporation with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. If you are interested in joining CATSAR, we suggest you attend the next meeting and/or field training exercise to see how we operate. We are interested in:
- able-bodied people of either sex over the age of 18 with experience in the outdoors environment who are willing to serve on ground teams;
- people who have ATVs/4WD vehicles that can be used on road searches;
- people who can perform mounted searches (horse and mule teams);
- persons who may be limited in their outdoors ability but are willing to serve by assisting with tasks in and around Incident Base.
